Election Blowout Happened Why?



Here is a rule of thumb for all politicians.  Don’t spit in the eye of the people who put you in office.  Unfortunately, that is a rule the Obama administration and his progressive supporters have yet to learn.  This past Tuesday, the Democrats took a thumping.  As of now, the Republicans have attained a degree of control in the country they have not seen since the Great Depression in terms of controlling governorship's, statehouses, and even here in Mahoning County, the Probate Court, the Auditor’s Office, and a portion of the Court of Appeals.  In my lifetime I have never seen the complete collapse of a political party on this scale.  That includes the aftermath of Watergate and Richard Nixon.

What is the response?  Obama said he is listening to the voters who didn’t vote.  Debbie Wasserman Schultz says it was “get out the vote issue” as opposed to a policy issue.  Two things happen in this type of election: 1) the people who oppose the policies and support the opposition party come out to vote in droves; 2) the people who oppose the policies and do not support the other party stay home.  It is that simple.  The President and his party are missing it on both sides.

The American people are tired of the politics of hate and division.  The so-called “War on Women” has become a joke as more and more conservative women rise to the top of the Republican political structure.  Charges of racism have become more and more unbelievable as conservative African-Americans become more and more visible both in terms of being elected to office and within the Republican Party structure.  The “War on Reproductive Rights” has no meaning when the focus turns to late term abortions which most Americans oppose in a visceral way.

The Obama scandals are unending.  Americans understand the uncontrollable power of the IRS.  Americans understand be-headings in the Mideast.  Americans understand abortion doctors killing live babies after they are born. Americans understand the problems of working two part time jobs.  Americans understand rising food costs despite protestations there is no inflation. Americans understand the decline in real wages.  Americans understand trading terrorists for a traitor.  Americans understand opening up the border to a hundred thousand unaccompanied illegal immigrant children in an effort to re-populate the United States.  Americans understand violent illegal immigrants being released from jail to cause death by guns or drunk driving.   Americans understand the government snooping through emails and texts and phone calls. American understand the importance of the Keystone pipeline.  Americans understand the attempted killing of the coal industry.  Americans understand the destruction of the space program.  Americans understand how we are getting our butts kicked around the world.  Americans understand you don’t hand out pink slips to troops on the front line.  And Americans understand a scandal affecting our veterans through a crooked VA and how people died because of it.

And what are the Progressives concerned about?  The racist name of the Washington Redskins and destroying school lunch programs with lettuce, crackers, and one slice of ham.  Really?

So to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Debbie Wasserman Shultz and Barack Obama, you lost because your policies centered on being citizens of the world rather than citizens of the United States. You lost because you care more about your personal agendas rather than the nation's.  You lost because you were tone deaf to the needs and wishes of the American people.  You lost because of your smarmy progressive arrogance attempting to manipulate people’s lives. 

A note to my Democratic friends.  You were subjected to the worst political coercion I have seen in my lifetime.  Those Senators who bowed to Obama’s and Harry Reid’s and Nancy Pelosi’s threats of intra-party discipline got exactly what they deserved when they lost.  You put party above country, and that is a political mortal sin. 

The same warning goes out to my Republican friends.  Compromise is not doing what an arrogant President wants, nor what right wing purists want.  It is coming together for the good of the nation.  If Obama digs in his heals and plays nasty, there will be hell to pay.  If the Republicans don’t become pro-active in putting forth an agenda and legislation for discussion, they will be joining him.

Hope vs. Aspiration

New and Improved: Big Bosomed Women Who Party

Of all the words in the English language that I have learned to fear and despise, the phrase that sends chills up and down my spine the most is "new and improved."   The new part is probably right, at least partially, but the improved is open to question.   It usually translates to confusion, work, and money.   This is especially true of the computer geeks at Google, You Tube and Facebook, along with all of my stock programs.   Those are particularly aggravating because I actually pay a monthly fee for some of these digital age gems.
