He Out "Young'd" Them

Why the viciousness of the attacks? One of my friends put it rather succinctly. John McCain out “young’d” them. How dare the Republican Party bring out someone younger than Barack Obama! Not only is Governor Palin young, she is pretty, intelligent, successful, raising a large family, and doing it on her own with the help of a supportive husband and extended family. She is closer to today’s working Moms than any of the effete, liberal, Vassar educated snobs who are more interested in a feminist agenda than a successful woman, and who would stoop to anything to achieve that agenda, including hanging out a 17 year old pregnant teen to dry. The Palin family is us.
Not only is Governor Palin youthful and exuberant, but so is her family. Bristol’s pregnancy will not only resonate with those of us who have known friends and neighbors dealing with these kinds of issues, but it will resonate with today’s youth. Here it is in real life. Those "barely able to vote teens" who watch shows like Gossip Girls or 90210 or Real World will recognize that this is the real thing. Even wholesome television shows like Reba, one of my favorites, centered around a high school cheerleader who had to marry the high school football star because of an unwanted pregnancy, and how their families dealt with the issue. The Palin’s are MTV come to life…and it doesn’t hurt that the teenage lovers make an attractive couple.
Not only is this the real thing, the Palin family is putting its dirty laundry out for the whole world to see, and showing how families should respond. There are alternatives to abortion, which would have been the easy way out for everyone. There are consequences to our actions, and we have to be brave enough to take responsibility for our mistakes. It is the loony left that looks for public solutions to personal mistakes. The left cannot tolerate watching someone take ownership and personal responsibility for his/her problems. Rugged Alaskans know that it doesn't take a village to raise children, it takes a strong family.
More importantly, the left cannot tolerate watching someone succeed who doesn’t fit its feminist template. Feminism is not the sole province of the Rosie O’Donnell’s or the Nancy Pelosi's or the Barbara Boxer's or Sally Quinn's of the world. A true feminist works hard and achieves and stands tall on her own, with no explanations owed to anyone. That is how it should be for women…and for men.
It has been a hoot watching the media deal with Sarah Palin’s VP nomination. I have never seen such a feeding frenzy happen so fast in a long time. Daughter Bristol’s pregnancy gave fodder of the worst sort to the media vultures whose inherent sexism became almost funny. The media's sexist rants shouted from the mouths of supposedly responsible journalists approached absurdity as they spewed hate towards working mothers and unwed teenage moms, such topics usually being taboo areas of feminist protection, but only if you are the right kind of woman. Apparently Sarah Palin is not.
Yes, Governor Palin believes abstinence should be taught in the schools and those same schools should not be vendors of condoms or birth control pills. While insinuating that Governor Palin was too busy politicking instead of providing proper supervision to her children, these panderers of free sex support the confidential dispensing of contraceptives and the availability of abortions to minors, without parental consent or notification. Palin is right: abstinence works every time. Try raising any child watching the broadcast sexual garbage that Palin's biggest critics pander to young teens night, after night, after night on television and in the movies.

Sarah Palin's boffo speech on Wednesday night shows she is a bright new star on the political horizon. She has the possibility of being the female equivilent to Ronald Reagan. This tough chick will be the first female President of the United States. Good job Governor Palin.
