The Third Iraq War

One only has to look at a map to understand American interests in the Mideast.  The United States had Iran surrounded with military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan thereby assuring that in those three countries terrorist mischief would be kept to tolerable levels.  Then, Barack Obama gave it away.  Mired in the muck of political ideology, he unilaterally withdrew our forces from Iraq, and is in the process of doing the same thing in Afghanistan.  Meanwhile, Iran pretends to be cooperating with the United States as it continues to run its centrifuges stockpiling weapons grade uranium.

The result is the beginning of the third Iraq war.  Terrorism from Syria has spread into central Iraq as bad guys even the Taliban find to be despicable establish an Islamist terrorist caliphate in the center of the Mideast threatening Israel, moderate Arab states like Jordan, and the United States itself.  These alleged human beings have brutalized any who oppose them, crucifying Christians, beheading children, and destroying anything in its path that does comply with strict fundamentalist Muslim dogma.  These are the cock roaches of the human race.

Obama’s unilateral withdrawal from Iraq set the stage after his fumbling in Syria, Libya and Egypt.  There are no good actors in this foreign policy disaster.  Sunni or Shia, both sides are filled with hate and violence which is spreading across the Mideast like wild fire.

Last night marked the beginning of the third Iraq war.  Faced with the annihilation of 40,000 Christians forced out of their homes and city, trapped on a mountain with no food, water or shelter, the capture of the largest Iraqi hydro-electric dam, the take over of the largest Christian Iraqi city, Obama has been shamed into taking action in territory we fought for with our blood and treasure twice before.  Our friends the Kurds, who normally have been a bastion of stability in an unstable neighborhood, are out-numbered and out-armed with our weaponry scavanged by the Isis devils from an ill-prepared, non-motivated Iraqi army that we armed.  It is a complete debacle that can ultimately threaten the southern border of NATO member Turkey, which has its own fundamentalist Islamic problems.

Barack Obama’s ineptness in failing to realize the strategic importance of continuing military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan is beyond all comprehension.  We are now forced to re-enter the fray in Iraq from off shore aircraft carriers, a much more expensive and dangerous alternative.

Maybe now Obama will learn the fundamental rule of foreign policy….there are no power vacuums.  When one stabilizing power leaves, another less palatable power takes it place.  Obama knew this when he made his foreign policy decisions over the past two years.  Now we will be fighting for the same territory a third time.  I fear this will escalate into something that will make the first two Iraq wars look like a walk in the park.  He should be ashamed.
