Britain/Israel/Pollsters and You
David
Cameron was just re-elected Prime Minister of Great Britain. That matters to you how? It matters because it was an epic battle
between the Tories...Britain’s Conservative Party led by Cameron, and the
Labour Party…led by Ed Miliband. It
matters because David Axelrod was imported to Britain to assist the Labour Party
get elected. It matters because one of
the major issues in the election was Britain’s immigration policy. And it matters because the pollsters got it
wrong in a major way.
Going
into the election, polls showed a neck and neck race…dead even with neither
party getting the necessary seats in Parliament to form a government. It would require a coalition government. The
pundits and American Press were giddy giving the advantage to the progressive
Labour Party. Surprise. As I write this, the Conservatives not only
won the election handily, it appears that they may achieve sufficient votes in
Parliament to form a government without a smaller party coalition. In other words, it was a blow out.
How
could the pollsters be so wrong? A month
or so two ago, the same thing happened with the Israeli elections. The press, pundits and the polls had buried
Prime Minister Netanyahu…and he blew the poll figures away. Guess who was there? David Axelrod.
Missteps
by pollsters are becoming common place especially here in the United States. There are several possible reasons. 1) The pollsters haven’t mastered the art of
polling with a diffuse communication system…in other words land lines are passé. 2) The pollsters are purposely skewing the
polls to show results they want to achieve rather than reporting accurate
polling results. 3) People are lying to the pollsters on purpose.
My
money is on the latter reason. People
believe in the sanctity of the ballot.
It is the one place they can express their opinion without opening
themselves up to criticism which in a left leaning media can become
virulent. Every aspect of people’s lives
are being watched and monitored. Trust
in government and anyone else for that matter is kaput. When you get a telephone call from CYA
Polling Company, why risk giving them an answer that might be used against
you? So people lie. It’s nobody’s business anyway.
All
of Europe is facing immigration problems of the worst kind. Miliband’s Labour Party espoused passing laws
against Islamaphobia…touchy feely wonderfulness. Cameron took a hard line especially as
relates to the concept of importing workers to do the work that would otherwise
be done by Brits if they had the motivation and skill to do the jobs. Cameron argues that no immigrants should be
allowed into Britain to lay claim to the welfare rights and benefits that hard
working British citizens have paid into all of their lives. Remind you of anything? You can read the content of Cameron’s comments here.
Britain
took a stand today against open borders and an Obama type immigration
policy. It caught the pollsters and the
press by surprise. The Democratic Party
should look closely at these results in a country which generally accepts a
European style of social democracy. As
ISIS and the terror threat grow the political class in the United States better
take heed in next year’s election.
